About this place
At lunchtime, a meal at Tetsutei begins with choosing 2 dishes. The set comes with rice, miso soup, a small side dish and pickles; rice refills are also offered, making it a hearty option.
Choices range from familiar set-meal favourites such as fried horse mackerel and salt-grilled mackerel to negitoro and grated yam rice bowls and a chicken soboro bowl. You can combine a rice bowl with a fried dish, too. One diner who chose the negitoro and grated yam bowl with a fried prawn praised the bowl’s balance and the crisp coating on the prawn.
Another diner who paired fried horse mackerel with salt-grilled mackerel said both were freshly cooked and the fish had been grilled just right. Other options include horse mackerel fried with plum and shiso, simmered sea bream head and cream croquettes. Switch things up with a fish-focused combination one day and a fried dish as the centrepiece the next.
In the evening, the menu adds okonomiyaki, yakisoba, yaki udon and chicken dishes to the set meals, making it suitable for dinner or a meal with drinks. Choices include chicken neck grilled with plum and shiso, chicken neck with kimchi and cheese, and pork okonomiyaki. There is plenty to choose from if you fancy teppan-cooked food with a beer.
